U.P. POLICE COMES UP WITH PINK BOOTHS IN LUCKNOW FOR WOMEN-FRIENDLY POLICING

If you have crossed Parivartan Chowk or Loreto Convent Crossing or the 1090 Crossing in Gomti Nagar, you would have spotted these bright pink structures, that look something like doll houses. Except that they’re actually police booths. Yes, they’re pink because they are for women. The UP Police has decided to set up these women-friendly booths across the state, but the project is being piloted in Lucknow, with a 100 booths.

The double-storeyed structure will be managed by a team of four women cops, headed by a woman sub-inspector. The ground floor is the office, while the first floor is the washroom, restroom and a pantry. These booths will be connected to the 1090 Women Powerline, and will help in speedy redressal of complaints in the areas they have been set up in.

Other booths that are nearing completion in Lucknow are at Lohia Crossing, Khurramnagar, Bhoothnath Metro Station, Husadia Chauraha, near National College, and Bandariyabagh, among other locations.
