UNBELIEVABLE BUT TRUE, THERE’S SOMETHING CALLED TANDOORI CHAI IN LUCKNOW

There’s tea and then there’s Tandoori tea! Available at a small stall at the 1090 Crossing, this is not just regular kulhad wali chai. The tea has a smokey flavour that comes from the kulhads that are cooked in a live tandoor on the spot.

WHAT
The uniqueness of this tea is in the process. They first put the kulhads in a tandoor till they are burning hot. Then they place the kulhad in a larger container. Piping hot tea is poured into the kulhad, till it bubbles over. This ensures the tea is now infused with a smokey, earthen flavour. Finally, the tea is transferred to a fresh kulhad and served. See the pictures below for a better understanding of the process.
