VISIT UTTARAKHAND MAHOTSAV IN LUCKNOW FOR FOOD & CRAFT SPECIALITIES FROM THE HILL STATE

The Lucknow Mahotsav slated for November 2019 has been rescheduled to January 2020. But, there’s another state fair on in Lucknow where you can go for a similar experience. The Uttarakhand Mahotsav is on near the Khatu Shyam Mandir in Lucknow, from Nov 9 to 18. It’s nothing like the Lucknow Mahotsav in scale, but it’s got stalls from different states, and a lot of specialities from Uttarakhand.

Here’s what you can expect at the Uttarakhand Mahotsav:

DALS & SPICES FROM UTTARAKHAND
There are several stalls selling organic foods in easy-to-carry packaging. A vegetable by the name of Garedhia that comes from the hilly region, is also being sold here.

CRAFTS FROM VARIOUS STATES
Agra’s marble work, Moradabad’s brass work, Jaipuri rajai, shawls from Kashmir, woollens from Uttarakhand, clothin from West Bengal are just some of the things you can pick up this fair.

DRY FRUITS & MOUTH FRESHENERS
Khubani, anjeer, walnuts and other dry fruits from Kashmir are on sale here. You will also find a stall for different kinds of churan and mouth fresheners, from Rajasthan, as are common at the Lucknow Mahotsav.

FRESH FOOD STALLS
There’s a small food court as well at the Mahotsav. Try the boiled American Sweet Corn, or something spicy at the Rajasthani food stall with Baati Chokha, Khastas and Choorma Laddoos. There’s a Bengali food stall as well, if you want to try a different cuisine, Ice Cream Pakora for those looking for off-beat foods and Tandoor Chai!
