For all the nature enthusiasts out there, here’s something exciting just for you. There is a group in Lucknow – Birds of Uttar Pradesh – that organises bird walks in and around the city, and the best part of it all, it is open to public. Which means all you need to do is be interested, to join the group.
WHAT
Birds of Uttar Pradesh is a group of nature lovers and enthusiasts who come together once a month to lead walking treks to observe and identify wild birds in their natural surroundings. The group is led by K.Praveen Rao, who is the Chief Conservator of Forest, Lucknow Zone and a nature lover. These bird walks are perfect for bird-watchers, photographers, nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts. These walks are usually undertaken in and around the city, like in the areas of Sandi, Gosaiganj, Kaima village, Kukrail and Nawabganj among others. The main objective behind these bird walks is to create awareness about the different birds and their conservation.
HOW CAN I BE PART OF THIS GROUP
So how is it that you can be a part of this exploration? Well, you have to join the group’s Facebook page, by the same name, and answer a few questions about yourself. The group posts the date, venue and other details of the next bird walk on their FB page.
WHEN & HOW
The walks are organised mostly on Sundays or on other public holidays and the participants have to carry their own snacks and other equipment that they would need; the group doesn’t take the onus to provide for anything. There is no registration or entry fee either, all you have to do is confirm that you will be a part of the trek.
