It’s the season of exhibitions, and this one dedicated entirely to eco-friendly khadi products. The Khadi Mahotsav, organised by the Uttar Pradesh Khadi and Village Industries Board and the Department of Silk to promote the use of swadeshi as part of ‘Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav’, is on at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, Lucknow till October 30, 2021.
60+ stalls on exhibit
Artisans from Bengal, Gujarat, Kolkata, Punjab, Mumbai Jaipur, Bihar, Saharanpur and other parts of the country are here to participate in the exhibition.
This year’s fair features a diverse selection of high-quality goods varying from carpets and decor to apparel, shoes, purses and bamboo jewellery; kitchenware and wooden toys, to organic honey, herbs and medicines.

The expo is more than just about buying fancy handlooms or accessories, it also takes the visitors down a trip to sericulture, where they learn how silk is being produced.

Kosh, at stall no. 11, is bringing sustainability into our lives through handwoven organic and naturally dyed fabric made by women survivors of domestic violence. They even use leftover fabric to make rugs, folders, and laptop sleeves for customers as gifts on certain purchases.
