Organised under the One District One Product (ODOP) scheme of the UP Government, the Gur Mahotsav held in Lucknow is the first of its kind anywhere in the world. The two-day jaggery fest on March 6 & 7, 2021 at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan is aimed to encourage sugarcane and jaggery production in the state.
Jaggery, now popular as a healthier substitute to sugar, can be found in many variations at the Gur Mahotsav. Apart from the regular gur, you will find flavoured gur sourced from some 70 gur manufacturers from different cities of Uttar Pradesh, like Sitapur, Ayodhya, Bijnore, Ghaziabad and Farrukhabad, among others.
