The Ekana International Stadium in Lucknow is hosting the Duleep Trophy tournament, which is returning to Lucknow after 12 years, all thanks to the swanky new stadium. The matches in Lucknow are scheduled from Thursday, September 7 to Sunday, September 10. And then again from Monday, September 25 to Friday, September 29, when the finals will be played here. It’s a good chance for sports lovers in Lucknow to watch first class cricket in the city. Cricketers like Parthiv Patel, Suresh Raina and Dinesh Kartik will be playing the tournament.
The Duleep Trophy will have day-night matches, played between three teams: India Red, India Blue and India Green. For the first time, a pink ball is being used for the tournament.
It has been 23 years since an international cricket match was held in Lucknow, at the KD Singh Babu Stadium. But if the ICC approves it, the new stadium could host international matches too.
