Winter is easily the best time of the year in Lucknow, when the city’s social and cultural calendar is choc-a-bloc and there’s plenty to do every evening, thanks to the great weather. One of the events we look forward to during the winter months is the annual flower show organised by the CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI), Lucknow. After a gap of the two COVID years, the NBRI is back with the Chrysanthemum and Coleus Show in the month on December and a vibrant show of Rose and Gladiolus in January 2023.
Exhibition of a spectacular range of flora
The two-day Chrysanthemum and Coleus show will be held on 10th and 11th December, 2022. The event is open for participation by institutions, gardeners, nurseries, floriculture based entrepreneurs, among others. A great photo-op where viewers can witness a diversity of floral colours, shapes and sizes. About 25 varieties of Chrysanthemum flowers of different styles such as single, bunches and even miniatures and about 15 varieties of tender foliage Coleus developed by the institution will also be on display.
The Rose & Gladiolus show will take place on 21st and 22nd January, 2023. This show is also open for all government, semi- government, private institutions and individuals. Enchanting colours of roses and gladiolus developed by the institution will be put on display.
Surely a crowd-puller, the main idea of the flower shows is to promote an interest in floriculture. Stay tuned for timings and other details.
