RAMZAN SPECIAL: AN IFTAR MENU BY RAM MISHTHAN BHANDAR

In Lucknow, the month of Ramzan is a festival of gastronomic delight with the streets of old Lucknow turning into a festival for foodies for iftari and continuing right up till sehri. Check out some of the lesser hyped, but very popular places for iftari/sehri among rozedars on Now Lucknow’s Ramzan Special series

This one is not for the food per se, but for the Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb that we would like Lucknow to still be known for. Ram Mishthan Bhandar, a mithai shop in Aminabad, is one of the few establishments run by a Hindu that offers an iftar menu. Located adjacent to a mosque, the mithai shop has been doing so for some 20 years now!

MUST TRY
The menu includes typical iftar snacks, all vegetarian. What you’ll get here: a variety of pakoras pyaz, aloo, palak and baingan (Rs. 160 for 1 kg), suhaal and saankhe, made in maida (for Rs.120 a kg) and samosas (Rs. 8 apiece) – both sweet and savoury.
