If you love fish, then a must-visit in Lucknow is Chatpati Fish House, situated near the Charbagh Railway Station. The modest eatery is almost 70 years old, and specialises in fried fish, even though they have chicken dishes, seekh kabab and fish kabab on the menu too, among other things.
As the name suggests, the fish is chatpati, and is fried right in front of you. But surprisingly, it doesn’t feel oily on the palate. The pieces are small, almost bite-sized, and sold by weight. There is ample seating available at the eatery, however, we would recommend take-away. Or just park your car nearby and your plate of fish will be delivered right there.
Price: Rs. 400 for a kilo of fried fish (with bones). Rs. 500 for a kilo of boneless fried fish.
