TRY LUCKNOW’S FAMOUS KHASTA, KACHODI AT THESE PLACES

Your Lucknow mornings are incomplete without a breakfast of khastas and kachodis. You will find that while the basic recipe for these remain the same, different places serve it with different accompaniments.

RATTI LAL KI KHASTA
Ratti Lal, a very popular place for khastas in Lucknow has been selling its absolutely delectable khastas since 1937. Ratti Lal goes out of stock within two to three hours of its opening, which proves the quality and the taste of khasta you get here. They serve their khastas with deep-fried aloo sabzi and safed matar in semi-gravy, on a patta platter.

BAJPAI KACHODI BHANDAR
Bajpai’s Kachodi is almost legendary when it comes to vegetarian food in Lucknow. And you will find the tiny shanty crowded all through the day, especially at breakfast and lunch time. They serve khastas with a sabzi of chole-aloo. Must try!

NETRAM
Netram, famous for his kachodi, khasta and jalebis is our go-to place for desi breakfast in Lucknow. Cooked in pure desi ghee, you can have their khasta/kachodis with spicy aloo sabzi or a gravy dish of aloo tamatar rasedar, or even sookha baingan (eggplant). You could opt for their breakfast thali, which includes three sabzis, raita, chutney and four khastas/kachoris.

DURGA KHASTA CORNER

Another place on Hewitt Road that has become very popular for its khastas, it is also known by the name of the guy who runs the stall – Ajay Khasta Corner. Go here for crisp khastas served with aloo ki sabzi.

Timings: 6 am to 4 pm

SHRI KACHODI, CHOWK
The 20-year-old shop was started by has only four items on its menu and all of them are worth savouring:  Kachodi, Chhola Bhatura  at (₹40), Gulab Jamun (₹15) and Chhola Chawal (₹20). A plate of kachodi, which consists of two masala kachodis, dry aloo and chhola, with a free second helping of the sabzi.
