If you are going out for drinks and dinner with your friends in Lucknow, you might be in for disappointment. Lucknow’s bars and pubs, restaurants and hotels have gone dry, because the premium and popular liquor brands are not available for buying in the city.
WHY
A new excise policy has been put in place in Uttar Pradesh, and everyone involved – the liquor companies the wholesalers and retailers are still trying to figure out the new rules and regulations. The bottles that will be made available for sale in the market must be bar-coded as per the new laws, so that they can be inventoried. Of course, business is hit at eateries till the liquor companies don’t get that right.
WHAT TO DO?
There’s not much you can do! Till things don’t sort out, you’re petty much dependent on your existing stock of liquor. Our suggestion: just get together a friend’s place for a BYOB (bring your own booze) evening, where everyone gets their own drinks, before heading out for dinner this weekend.
