Loreto Convent is set to embark on a year-long celebration to mark its 150th anniversary in Lucknow from the 4th of November, 2022. The school encompasses a remarkable history of influencing and nurturing thousands of students with care and passion.
Where it all started
The institute was founded in 1616 by an English woman, Mary Ward.In 1872, the Loreto sisters as they are called, led by Mother Joseph Hogan came to Lucknow and started the school in a house adjoining the church situated in present-day Shahnajaf Road. Later, it was moved to the present site. As the Loreto family expanded, a sister school was started in the name of St. Agnes Loreto Day School. There are two more outreach schools run by Loreto Convent for the children of the less advantaged sections of the society.
Over the years, Loreto Convent has produced students that have done not just the school proud, but also brought laurels to the city of Lucknow. For thousands of girls who spent the formative years of their lives here, Loreto isn’t just a school but second home. The celebrations to mark 150 years of the school are also a celebration of the spirit of Loreto that every student embodies within her.
