The Government of Uttar Pradesh imposed a lockdown in the state over weekends to discourage people from stepping out in order to contain the rising number of COVID cases in the state. But starting July 25th, the government has allowed liquor shops in the state to open even during the lockdown on weekends, according to a newspaper report.
Which means, you can’t step out on the weekends, unless you’re stepping out to buy liquor! Whatever the logic, we are not complaining.
However, beer, wine & other liquor shops located in Containment Zones are not allowed to open during the weekends. Also, drinking in public places is still prohibited. The timings for the liquor shops to remain open are: 9 am to 10 pm.
