HEARD OF BABU DA’S CHOPS AND CUTLETS AT LATOUCHE ROAD, LUCKNOW?

Cutlets are a popular item at Bengali Babu’s Fry Stall

Babu Da’s modest stall on Latouche Road is a very popular place for street food like cutlets, chops and all sorts of mouthwatering, fried stuff. And it’s 45 years old! Started by Sonaton Das (commonly known as Babu Da), who knew nothing except cooking when he moved to Lucknow from Kolkata. His initial motive was to attract the Bengali residents of that area. However, it’s not just Bengalis who flock to his stall now.

USP
Bengali Babu’s menu is limited, but his chops and cutlets are as close to Bengali bhajiyas that you get on the streets of Kolkata. The liberal use of peanuts in his cutlets and chops make them different from others you’ve tasted. Bengalis usually have these with puff-rice (laiyya or murmure), but you can have them with green chutney, and they will taste just as good.

MENU FAVOURITES
His mutton chops and chicken cutlets are a hit among his customers, priced at Rs. 40. His fish cutlets and Mughlai Paratha are our favourites and highly recommended. You get them both at ₹40 each. He also sells other items like mutton cutlets and fish chops, and has recently added prawn chop and keema chop to the menu for ₹40 & ₹50 per plate respectively. Mutton, chicken, fish gravy dishes start from Rs. 100.  He serves some delectable chicken and mutton biryani too. The veg cutlets and veg rolls are no less. “They are on popular demand too,” says Babu Da.

You can stand and eat there or pack it and relish at home. He also serves at parties and other functions, all you need to do is place your order a couple of days prior to the event.
