The maiden edition of the Gomti Book Festival, Lucknow is on at the Gomti Riverfront and promises bookish joy. Inaugurated on the 29th of October, 2022, the festival is based on the theme of Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, and has been organised by the National Book Trust in association with Lucknow Municipal Corporation and Lucknow Development Authority.

The book fair will continue till 6th November, 2022. The festival has been divided into four categories:
Youth Corner – Young authors shortlisted for PM-YUVA mentorship will be discussing their life stories.
Author’s Corner – You can get a chance to hear eminent writers, journalists, authors, poets and educationalists such as Manoj Muntasir, Kumar Vishwas, Yatindra Mishra, Piyush Mishra, Neelesh Misra, Kulpreet Yadav, Alok Rai, Prof Nadeem Hasnain, Vandana Sehgal, amongst others, talk at the author’s corner.
Children’s Corner – Under this category various workshops and events are taking place for children daily.
Book Street – Here you can find a cornucopia of reading material on sale. We zoomed in on these interesting stalls at the Book Street and here’s what we recommend:
ELocal Shop

A pocket-friendly option for avid readers, this stall has a collection of classic novels, which you must read at least once in your lifetime, available at reasonable prices. They also have second hand copies of bestselling novels and classics. With books selling at flat rates of ₹99 or ₹199, the books here are affordable and in-good condition.
KharidoBecho Shopping

The stall, put up by people from Pune city, has a good collection of fictional books . What’s unique about them is you can buy used or new books from them and sell or donate your used books. They have an online store too, to purchase books with free shipping. This stall offers a variety of books by lesser-known authors to add to your collection of reads.
Sangeet Natak Akademi
It’s a catch for musical enthusiasts. This stall has books and monographs on performing arts. Available in English and Indian languages, they promote publishings on music, dance, drama as well as instruments.
Aryan Book Sellers

From autobiographies and adventure fiction to romantic novels and self-help books, get your hands on a treasure trove of popular reads at this stall. You have a chance to grab quaint coffee table books and load up on some bestsellers.
Radha Soami Satsang Beas
Immerse yourself in spirituality and wellness to nurture your mind and soul by getting hands on the books at this stall. Radha Soami is a spiritual tradition and this stall has been put up by an organisation which is a part of the movement. For the first time ever they are participating in a book fair. You can find books like the famous Ramcharitmanas, books on Jainism, etc. There are books in Hindi, English as well as Urdu.
Some of our other favourite stalls at the book fest include the Ektara Trust stall with children’s books; the Divya Prakashan Patanjali stall with books on of Yoga, Ayurveda and Indian Culture and the stall by the Directorate of Census Operations, UP, with the language atlas of India, the administrative atlas of Uttar Pradesh, the district census handbooks etc.
