The UP Government has shared plans to celebrate June 15 to 21, 2023 as Yoga Week in the run up to the 9th International Yoga Day. This year, the theme of the International Yoga Day is ‘Har Ghar-Aangan Yoga’, so that every family can enjoy the benefits of wellness and health through yoga.
Plans for Yoga Week
According to Chief Minister Shri Adityanath Yogi, June 15 to June 21, 2023, should be celebrated as ‘Yoga Week’ with the aim of providing benefits of yoga to maximum number of people. During the Yoga week, mass yoga practice programs should be organized at the district headquarters.
There should be mass yoga practice in public parks every morning from 6 am to 8 am. Yoga-related seminars/workshops should be organized in universities, colleges, schools and colleges. In this workshop, competitions related to modern lifestyle, role of yoga in management of mental disorders and speech, rangoli, poster, essay writing, slogan and extempore should be organized.
Voluntary organizations, health and wellness centers, religious, social organizations, yoga institutes, NCC cadets, scouts and guides and NSS volunteers should be associated with Yoga Day. Efforts should be made to increase public awareness to connect more and more people with the important event of International Yoga Day.
Cleanliness Drive on June 20
The Chief Minister said that on June 20, a special cleanliness campaign should be launched by the Urban Development, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department in coordination with the local educational institutions. Fruits and sweets should be distributed to the children on this occasion.
Yoga practice at historical & cultural places on June 21
The main function of June 21 to be organized in all 58 thousand gram panchayats and 762 urban bodies. Yoga exercises should be organized at Amrit Sarovars, places of historical importance and cultural places.
