Always wondered how clean the kitchen of your favourite restaurant is? There’s good news. The Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) will now grade eateries based on hygiene and sanitation, among other parameters, according to a newspaper report.
The new grading system will apply for eating joints of all sizes like food courts, small, medium and big restaurants, hotels and resorts. They will be marked on design and facilities such as refrigeration and storage, operations of records, maintenance and sanitation, personal hygiene and training of servers and staff. A restaurant can receive a maximum of 114 points for getting everything right.
Street food kiosks and food trucks are not being graded yet.
THE FSDA will also check that customer complaints against quality of food in restaurants.
Now if only the grading is to be displayed at the restaurant will the consumers be really happy!
