Are you a cycling enthusiast and looking for tips to take your passion to the next level? Well then, you’ve cycled to the right spot. Now Lucknow has put together a list of recommended cycling routes in and around Lucknow for beginners. And the recommendations come from Pedalyatris Lucknow – a group of active cyclists who encourage cycling the right way.
LEISURE RIDING
Looking for just a bit of exercise on your cycle? Head to:
1. Janeshwar Mishra Park, where you can ride up to 10-15 km
2. Lucknow Cantt, where you can easily cycle for about 15 km.
BEGINNERS
Starting at Somnath Dwar, Cantt or the 1090 Crossing, Gomti Nagar, you can take one of the following routes with the Pedalyatris:
1. Indira Dam – An almost 35 km ride, to and fro.
2. Kukrail Picnic Spot – An approximately 20 km ride, to and fro.
INTERMEDIATE
When you’ve done the 20 km ride, and want to do more, these are the routes that the Pedalyatris recommend, starting at Somnath Dwar in Cantt or the 1090 Crossing, Gomti Nagar:
1. Ansal Sushant Golf City – A distance of 40-45 km to and fro.
2. Shivgarh Resort, – A 50-km ride, to and fro.
EXPERIENCED CYCLISTS
Looking to push the pedal some more? Here’s where you can head to, start at Somnath Dwar in Cantt or the 1090 Crossing, Gomti Nagar:
1. Sidhauli, Sitapur Road – A distance of approximately 100 km, to and fro.
2. Raebareli – Ride up to Naresh Sweets in Raebareli and back, which makes it a distance of approximately 160 km, to and fro.
3. Faizabad Road – That’s the route to take while riding for 200 km or more.
CYCLING GEAR & TIPS
Since the Pedalyatris advocate riding safe, here’s a list of cycling gear they insist you must have before you undertake any of the rides on your cycle:
1. A cycle suitable for your height
2. Helmet, gloves, eyeglasses and reflective vest
3. Front and back lights, horn
4. Water bottle
5. Puncture Kit and Multi Tool Kit
6. Recommended time for cycling: 5 am to 7 am
