RAHIM’S KULCHA NIHARI – UNMISSABLE

Kulcha Nihari at Rahim’s

This 125-year-old restaurant in old Lucknow is still one of the best places to go to for non-vegetarian food in the city. What Tunday’s is to kebabs and Idrees is to biryani, Rahim is to Nalla Nihari. The original shop is located in a narrow lane in Akbari Gate in Chowk, that has grown in size over time to include a large seating area, with air-conditioning.

The Nihari, in which the meat is served in a thick, flavourful gravy. , is best served with kulcha, a soft bread that is not to be confused with the kulchas of Punjab! You can order either Paaye ki Nahari or Gosht ki Nahari.

BEST TIME TO VISIT
Interestingly, there are takers for Rahim’s Kulcha Nihari even early in the morning, right at breakfast time! Be prepared for the crowds if you happen to visit Rahim’s during Ramzan. The eatery is open till late at night.

PRICE
The kulcha costs as little as Rs. 10. A half plate of Nihari comes for Rs. 50.
