No matter how much we indulge in fancy food and swanky restaurants, the food from our school or college canteen definitely holds a special place in our hearts. To celebrate those school and college time memories, Now Lucknow brings to you a series featuring one of its kind canteen food. And we are beginning at Lucknow University. Anybody who has ever visited the campus would vouch for its famous Samosa Chhola – a simple but delicious dish of samosa topped with spicy chhola gravy and garnished with onion and green chillies on demand.
Ever since the canteen at the varsity came into existence more than 15 years ago, Samosa Chhola has been a part of the menu. The dish is a staple among students, more than 500 plates of it are served every day at a cost of Rs 15 per late! Yes, yes, do the math!
The canteen has been renovated and relocated inside the premises, it’s no more in the old spot. Several new food items are also added on the menu, but Samosa Chhola remains a favourite.
