The ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ Victory Flame, marking 50 years of India’s victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war, is to arrive in Lucknow on 8th December, 2021. The flame will reach Janeshwar Mishra Park in Gomti Nagar on December 9, 2021, and will be stationed in the city till December 12, 2021, and will further travel to New Delhi.

Events in Lucknow to Commemorate the Swarnim Vijay Varsh

On 9th December, the Army will hold ceremonial and cultural events to commemorate this momentous occasion. These events will be open to public viewing.

The Armed Forces will be hosting these events in collaboration with the LDA. A 90-minute performance featuring a band concert, a short movie screening and weapon display has been planned. Selfie points will be installed at the venue for people to get photographed at.

The Indian Armed Forces are celebrating Swarnim Vijay Varsh to commemorate the overwhelming victory of India in the 1971 war, and as part of the celebration, the Victory Flameis travelling across India, with a number of activities taking place along the way. The ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ celebrations began on December 16, 2020, with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi lighting the Victory Flame.

Four victory flames, or the Swarnim Vijay Mashaal, lighted from the eternal flame at the National War Memorial, are being escorted around the country, including villages of Param Vir Chakra (PVC) and Maha Vir Chakra (MVC) honorees from the 1971 war. The victory light has been sent to the country’s four cardinal directions and will converge in New Delhi in December 2021.
